Book: Momo and Snap Are NOT Friends by Arlie Anderson
Source: Free signed copy at BEA 2013
Release Information: April 1, 2013 from Child’s Play International
Thoughts: I don’t often review picture books here, but when I walked by the signing line at BEA, I couldn’t resist the cover. I had to find out why Momo and Snap aren’t friends. I immediately read the book and loved it.
What you need to know going in is that the story is told solely with pictures and word bubbles. But these word bubbles don’t have words, just sound effects. These sounds are fun and funny and follow the rivalry between Momo and Snap.
But why aren’t they friends? You should read the book and find out. The story made me smile and the end made my heart happy. I’ve had a blast reading this with my niece and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Overall: A fun book, both in story and art, that uses noises to tell a story. Best read aloud with lots of movement. This would be perfect for a group story time!
