Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that combines lists and books. This weeks topic is… top ten experiences meeting authors. At least that’s my spin on it.
I’ve gone to a lot of book events and I’ve had some terrible and some awesome experiences with authors. Here are the authors I’ve met who left the best impression.
D.J. MacHale – Seriously, this dude is awesome. He always takes a minute to chat and is so upbeat. I’ve met him twice and had a wonderful experience both times.
Laurie Halse Anderson – She was the first author I ever met. I was 15, the event was slow, and she took a ton of time to talk to me about my writing. It was an experience that helped keep my love of reading and writing alive through high school.
Maureen Johnson – We had a staring contest. It was amazing.
Jason Reynolds – He was super nice! I met him before I’d read his books, and meeting him moved him up my TBR.
Stephanie Perkins – She was so sweet and made me feel comfortable, even though I was super nervous meeting her.
Victoria Schwabb – She’s on the list because she picked me as the winner of the costume contest.
Harlan Coben – SO NICE. When I asked if I could take a picture, he made a joke about how a picture of him was boring and insisted I take the picture with him.
Maggie Stiefvater – I was SO nervous, but she seemed amused by my ridiculousness, which made it memorable instead of humiliating.
David Levithan – I’ve met him a few times, and he is so nice that it would be impossible to leave him off this list.
Leigh Bardugo – I adore her, and she didn’t seem too overwhelemed when I fangirled out, which is something I don’t usually do at author signings, but I COULDN’T HELP IT because it was Leigh Bardugo.
